Belclare: Group 1 Winner Heads to Magic Millions Sale

Fresh from her historic second win in the New Zealand Thoroughbred Breeders' Stakes (G1) on March 30, Belclare is poised to make waves at the upcoming Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale at the Gold Coast.

Background

Belclare, an impressive 11-time winner, has earned over NZ$980,000 from 36 starts. Bred by part-owner David Woodhouse, this remarkable mare boasts a pedigree that combines the best of New Zealand bloodlines.

Racing Glory

Trained by premiership-winning trainer Lisa Latta, Belclare's recent victory in the New Zealand Thoroughbred Breeders' Stakes was a fitting finale. Latta expressed her pride, saying, "It's been a really nerve-racking day, considering it's likely to be her last race for us. The owners have been so loyal, and to go out on a winning note in this race, it couldn't be better."

Broodmare Prospects

As part of the Bhima Thoroughbreds draft, Belclare will go under the hammer as both a racing and breeding prospect. Her strong, muscly build and excellent temperament make her an appealing choice for future broodmare success.

Owner-breeder David Woodhouse shared his excitement, saying, "We've never had a horse like her—sure we've had some nice horses, but she's another level. We still have her mother, a sister at home, and also a half-sister in foal to Noverre. I hope she can carry her racing form to the breeding barn."

Anticipation Builds

Magic Millions managing director Barry Bowditch eagerly awaits the release of the catalogue, which promises a lineup of stakes-winning stars. Belclare's inclusion adds to the anticipation, and the international audience can look forward to witnessing this exceptional mare's next chapter.
